Eagle Tools has been a SawStop dealer since 2006. In 2006, Time Magazine selected Tesla and SawStop as “Best Inventions.” A local Tesla engineer soon walked in to buy a SawStop since he had attended the Time Awards ceremony. Most importantly, his wife insisted that he use the “safest” table saw.
We recall our excitement at receiving our first SawStop in 2006. It was the Model CB, which evolved into what is now known as the top-of-the-line Model ICS. Initially, the entire SawStop company was formed to license the braking system as a safety feature for table saw companies to adopt and install into their own table saws. Surprisingly, other companies did not step forward to adopt the newly invented braking system. It may have been a blessing in disguise that SawStop’s final option was to build their own table saw. Instead of adapting the brake to an “average saw,” SawStop introduced many new improvements, serving to “reinvent” the 10-inch USA table saw as we knew it.
SawStop's upgrades:
At Eagle Tools, we had experience selling Swiss, Italian, Canadian, and USA table saws but had never seen a table saw offering some level of protection against all three major table saw hazards: blade contact, kickback, and dust control until we received our first SawStop.
-
Hand contact with blade: Since the SawStop brake stops and retracts the blade in a fraction of a second, we have not seen more than a scratch from our customers since we sold our first SawStop in 2006. No amputations!
-
Kickback: The factory blade guard includes anti-kickback pawls, but SawStop adds a Euro-style riving knife centered behind the blade in case the guard is momentarily removed.
-
Dust control: Before SawStop, most USA table saws allowed dust to collect inside the cabinet, assuming periodic manual clean-out. SawStop provides dust capture at the blade with flexible conduit delivering dust to a 4-inch rear port. In addition, the above-table blade guard features a secondary optional dust port.
Quick-release: In a hurried workshop, it’s helpful to know that SawStop’s blade guard, riving knife, and table insert plate feature tool-less quick release for install or removal in seconds, not minutes.
SawStop accessories: It is easy to enhance table saw functions with a large selection of optional SawStop accessories designed to fit your specific SawStop model. These may include: mobile base, overhead guard, sliding table, router tables, outfeed table, etc., depending on which SawStop model you select to purchase.
SawStop phone tech service: Customers normally find that a phone call to tech service will often help to answer a question or solve a problem due to the in-house SawStop technical expertise.
Why SawStop? Because it combines proven safety, quality, and precision.
